Happy Results for Rummage/Furniture Sale
The outcome of our recent Rummage and Furniture Sale brings smiles to our faces. Actually, with an initial count of $21,739.45, this sale result was our second highest ever, the record sale of course being tis past October. The net income at this point is incomplete since we have some money still outstanding. In addition, we have a potential significant sale coming up in a couple of weeks.
Now we shift our thoughts and efforts to our October sale for which we’ve already begun collecting donations. We have been incredibly blessed with donations of quality merchandise from our parishes and indeed from the non-Catholic community that recognizes our ecumenical outreach to the city.
Thanks to all of the many people who stepped front and center to produce our good results. A successful outcome happens only because of the cooperative efforts of many knights, wives, and other friends of our council. Those who paid either major or minor roles in this sale were Dennis and Sue Wood, Stan and Gwen DeGruccio, Carol Andrews, Joe and Mildred Giompoletti, Bill and Dawn Thompson, Don and Liz Sass, Bob and Sandy Kortenber, Dennis and Chris Bosch, Jim and Martha Lockwood, Gil and Karen Gibbons, Tom Gilleran, Dick Smith, Jim and Barbara Reiter, George Marshall, Iturba Percefull, Len and Miriam Didier, Harold Hager, Julian Post, Ed King, Bob and Carol Koch, Leonard Buccholz, Lucy Marroy, Judy Kirton, Wally Frazee, Ray Kukuk, Joe Dierks, Beverly Priest, Audrey McDonald, Zack Nehus, Joe Kanopsic, Kathy Woodruff, and Don Sluyter.
Special gratitude must also be expressed for those who provided food either for our volunteer workers or for the public. Joe Giompoletti took the lead in preparing lunches for our patrons at $5.00 a head. What a deal! In serving hamburgers with fries or chips, fried fish with fries and hushpuppies, or pulled pork sandwiches with chips and a drink, Joe was assisted by Larry Stamps, Jackie Smith, Tom Gilleran, Julian Post, and Bill Thompson.
In another category of service, we express appreciation to those who provided and in some cases served lunches to our workers. Those providing lunches were Martha Lockwood, the Morning Circle of St. John’s (pizza, salad, and dessert by Melanie Wilson, Doris Reis, Margo Longo, Sandy Pajodius, Jeanette Mace, Laura Mazzia and Gwen DeGruccio), Sacred Heart Circle of St. John’s (lasagna, salad, and dessert by Sue Wood, Chris Bosch, Fran Kasemeier, Ruth Kapkau, and Marylou Peterson), and Ed Soris (his famed homemade pizza) and Jim DeGeorge (salad), all very good. Contributing snacks/desserts were Lee Myers (cherry bars), Buddy Gloor (cake), Liz Sass, Dawn Thompson, Tom Gilleran (donuts), and Bev Priest (lemon bars),
The Charity Committee will soon meet to determine how to allocate the monthly distribution of available funds.hall will preside. The meeting, as always, promises to be short.
