Fourth Degree—Footnotes
I would like to thank the Fourth Degree knights who showed up in regalia for Bishop Andrew Taylor’s celebration of Mass commemorating the 100-year anniversary of St. John’s Church. I also thank them for serving at St. John’s Easter Vigil Mass. Those participating were Commander of the Guard Bob Kness, Joe Petruk, Lou Kosarek, Zack Nehus, Mike Tucker, Dennis Bosch, Larry Stamps, Bill Thompson, and me. Keep in mind that we will also need men in regalia to participate in the June 10 Feast of Corpus Christi march through downtown Hot Springs, beginning at St. John’s Church and ending at St. Mary’s Church.
Let the following verse prompt some soul-searching for our knights:
Some members keep the Knights strong
While others join and just belong.
Some dig right in, some serve with pride
Some go along just for the ride.
Some volunteer to do their share
Some lie back and just don’t care.
On meeting nights some always show
While there are those that never go.
Some always pay their dues on time
While others always lag behind
Some do their best, some build, some make
Some never give but always take
Some lag behind, some let things go
Some never help their Knights grow.
Some drag, some pull, some don’t, some do
…..Consider...which of these are YOU!!!!
On Tuesday, May 22 we will have a joint installation of Assembly officers jointly with the Hot Springs Village Assembly in the basement of Sacred Heart Church at 295 Balearic Road. We will have dinner at 6 p.m. and the installation at 7. A tux is required of officers. All incoming officers should be present.
Then on Sunday, June 3 we will have a Fourth Degree Exemplification at St. Theresa’s Church, 6311 Baseline Road, Little Rock. Registration will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., with the ceremony following at 2 p.m. This will be a great opportunity for our Third Degree members to become members of our Assembly as Fourth Degree Knights.
Our next meeting will be a social gathering with our wives, beginning at 6:30 at Olive Garden. Our host is Larry Nieman. Come join us./Don Sass, Faithful Navigator.
